Kayla E. Green is an award-winning author and poet who writes to remind others—and herself—that light always prevails over darkness. When she isn’t writing, reading, or spending time with her family, she loves singing loudly and off-key to KLove Radio and pretending she’s a unicorn. Fittingly, her YA debut fantasy novel is titled The Goodness of Unicorns.

More from Kayla

Have you ever been in the car and heard just the right song at just the right moment? Or heard just the message you needed at a specific point in your life on Sunday morning like the pastor is speaking directly to you?

Throughout crafting the poems that now make-up the contents of Metamorphosis, I realized that my testimony navigating depression and anxiety is incomplete without my faith. It is the love of God that allows transformation. As such, each poem within the collection is paired with a Bible verse. No matter what we are facing in life, we can find strength in our Lord and through His Word.

Visit this slideshow and see what Bible verse awaits you today. Share how the verse resonates with you and/or suggest a worship song that it reminds you of on social media and be sure to tag me (@author.kayla.e.green on Instagram) so I can reply! https://www.canva.com/design/DAHAUXF0oAI/kU3r4XgiHh-uOUWZUHQrPA/view?utm_content=DAHAUXF0oAI&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=hb6054e54cf

Interview

Give us an insight into your faith in the Lord,

I know that everything I do is a testimony to others because of my identity as a Christian. I strive to approach each day, including the most mundane tasks, as a means to worship God. All that I am and all that I am able to do is because of Jesus so it is only fitting that He is at the center of my life and my writing.  Romans 12:2.

Do your books revolve around certain themes?

Readers will always find themes of hope and faith in my books. My faith shapes my worldview and who I am. It’s always interwoven within my writing because it’s part of me. In addition to poetry, I write Christian and noblebright fantasy. This does not mean my stories overlook real hurt; rather, my books shine focus on hope in the hurting.

What are you currently working on?

I’m currently preparing for the release of my next novel, Faith of the Phoenix, this fall. Pirate Hunters & Fallen Stars will release in 2027, and I have a poetry collection releasing in 2028. I am going to start querying a middle grade novel, Project Camelot, soon. For current writing, I am working on Project Sun, Project Kansas, and Project Doom. Readers can get the quickest updates by connecting with me on Instagram (@author.kayla.e.green).

Tell us something unique about yourself.

I am a twin and my husband is also a twin.

When you aren’t writing, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy reading. Each month, I buddy read with a friend of mine and I have recently joined a local book club. Aside from working on the books on my TBR (to be read list) and adding to it faster than I can read, I enjoy drawing, painting, listening to K-LOVE radio, and spending time with my family. When the weather allows, we love being outside playing with bubbles and the water table.
