Adele Linley is desperate to save her family and her beloved home. Her only means of doing so is to leave England and head to America, hoping to woo a wealthy man into marrying her. Her plans are all planned out until her path crosses with a young man who can't provide for her financially but stirs her heart in the way no others had.
Drew Dawson is desperate to do whatever it takes to support his invalid sister, even if it means walking a tightrope across Niagara Falls. While he'd love to help Adele with her problems, he barely has enough money to cover expenses so he and his sister don't wind up on the street.
This was my first time to read one of Amanda Barratt's stories. She did a great job keeping the tale historically accurate and creates deep characters. Her book is a nice addition to the 'My Heart Belongs' series from Barbour Books.
