Welcome Rose Allen McCauley

June 14, 2017

The temperatures are soaring here in PA and we're about half way through June already. Can you believe it? What better time than to find a cool spot and settle down with a new book? :)

Today I'd like to welcome, Rose Allen McCauley. Hello Rose. How did you develop a love of story?

I learned to read when I was five and have loved stories ever since! As a child I used to act them out with my dolls or paper dolls, now I paint them with words for others to read!

I know there are several authors I've interviewed that acted out stories with their paper dolls. :) How much time do you spend researching before you write?

It depends. If it’s a historical book, it usually takes much more research, but some contemporary books can, too, if your characters go someplace or do things you know nothing about.

Research is always fun. Apart from writing, what is your favorite creative outlet?

Scrapbooking which is painting memory stories with pictures and words in a creative way to enjoy now and to pass on to my grandchildren.

I'm sure they appreciate that. What is the farthest place from home that you've traveled?

Hawaii (for family vacation) to the west and Ukraine to the east (on a mission trip to an orphanage).

My daughter-in-law was adopted from the Ukraine. What is your favorite Bible verse and why?

Ephesians 3:20 “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory.” Because it tells us He knows what is best for us and loves to give it to us if He knows it will be His best.

That's a good one. Where did you get the inspiration for your latest book?

My granddaughter went on a mission trip to an orphanage a couple summers ago while in high school. Then last January my husband and I went on a K-Love cruise to Jamaica and did a one-day mission trip to an orphanage in Jamaica from the boat. So I combined those two ideas into one story.

That sounds interesting. What do you plan to work on next?

I am working on a cozy mystery that a friend and I started a few years ago and recently decided to finish. It is called Clark and Lewis and follows our characters on a reenactment tour of the original Lewis and Clark tour across America.

Intriguing. Where can readers connect with you?

On my website which holds my blog, list of books, and other info at www.rosemccauley.com.

Thanks for stopping by today, Rose. I pray the Lord blesses you and your writing.
