A chill in the air. The scent of wood burning in fireplaces as I walk each morning. Ah. Fall is finally here. I welcome the colder temperatures because that means winter is just around the corner. :) So today is a great time to feature a Christmas book.
Today I'd like to welcome Naomi Miller to our 'love of story' feature. Welcome, Naomi. What does your writing space look like?
My writing space is a beautiful desk, left to me by my sister. But most of the time, I’m either sitting at the dining room table, or sitting on the couch with my laptop. Honestly, I can write most anywhere, but my favorite place seems to be the dining room table.
You're adaptable if you can write anywhere. :) How did you develop a 'love of story'?
Honestly, I have no idea how it developed… I’ve loved reading since Grade One, when I learned to read the Dick and Jane book in school. After that first book, I became a voracious reader, which developed into a voracious writer! I LOVE WRITING!
I can relate. I love to write too. Where did you get the inspiration for your latest book?
The idea came one evening when I was praying, to write a story of family, faith and forgiveness. I don’t want my characters to be ones who are easily tempted or led astray, but able to hold onto their faith. There’s more than enough bad in the world; I want to write books that inspire, encourage, and uplift.
I love books that inspire, encourage, and uplift. Do you have a favorite scene in your newest release?
Yes! My newest release is Christmas Cookie Mystery, which is available for pre-order – and my favorite scene is at the very beginning, when Katie does something totally unexpected – and has a great time doing it! Of course, I can’t say any more or I’ll give away too much!
Thanks for the teaser. :) What do you plan to work on next?
Right now I’m finishing up Christmas Cookie Mystery, which will most likely be a favorite, since I love everything about Christmas! It’s definitely the most fun story I’ve written – so far. Next month I’ll finish up the first draft of Lemon Tart Mystery – and to go along with the name, I’m introducing a little tartness in this book.
You have me intrigued. What is the farthest place from home that you've traveled?
Lisbon, Portugal. It’s a beautiful country with friendly people and wonderful food.
It sounds nice, Naomi. What advice would you give to new authors?
To never, ever, give up. The only way to completely fail – is to quit.
Great words of wisdom. What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
I have too many to choose just one, but I’m happy to share one with you! “Trust in the Lord with all think heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6
These verses are special to me, as they continue to assure me that as long as I trust God and acknowledge him as my Lord and Savior, HE will always be there to guide and protect me.
Great reminder. Where can readers connect with you?
