I’ve had the blessing of being on a number of blogs lately because of my new book release, Protecting Annie. So over the next few months, I’ll be returning the favor. Today I’d like to introduce you to Leslie L. McKee. Welcome, Leslie!
When did you know you wanted to be a writer?
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember, starting with a few short stories in elementary school, and then by junior high, I moved on to poetry and song lyrics. Over the years, I started writing reviews for various publications, and then I moved into editing. My editing career led me to an opportunity to write devotions, which was a total God thing that started in 2016.
That’s exciting. What genre do you write?
My book is nonfiction (a devotional book). I’ve also written and published some flash fiction stories.
I’ve read some flash fiction but have never written any. I have written a number of devotions through the years though. 🙂
Where did you get the inspiration for your latest book?
Hope Amid the Pain. is based on my own experience of living with chronic pain and illness for over twenty-five years. Friends often told me that I needed to share my story, but I was always reluctant to do so, until I finally listened to God’s nudge to write my book.
I can relate to living in pain. What main message are you hoping to convey to your readers?
Hope Amid the Pain. is a 60-day devotional journal that will remind women living with chronic pain and illness that they’re not alone in their struggles. It is possible to hang on to positive expectations and cling to the hope that can only be found in the Lord … even while living with chronic pain and illness.
It sounds like a book I could relate to. Apart from writing, what is your favorite creative outlet?
I enjoy playing piano, crocheting, and reading (which is probably no surprise 😊). I also enjoy Bible journaling.
